  • Bloom's Taxonomy: each session climbs from Understand → Apply → Create.
  • Gradual Release: "I do → We do → You do" scaffolding.
  • SEL & 4Cs: creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking.
  • UDL: multiple ways to participate, with offline / low-cost fallbacks.

Design Detectives & Your First AI Image

90 min
Understand → Apply
Ages 9–16 Design Fundamentals AI Prompting SEL: Self-Awareness

Kids discover what makes a design "work" (color, contrast, hierarchy) by becoming "design detectives," then write their very first AI image prompt.

Learning Goals (Mastery)
  • Name the 4 design basics: color, contrast, hierarchy, balance.
  • Explain what a "prompt" is and the 4 parts of a good one: subject, style, mood, detail.
  • Generate one original AI image that matches a written plan.
Hands-On Lab: "Prompt to Picture"
  1. Play "Spot the Design": compare two posters and list what feels good/bad.
  2. Fill in a Prompt Recipe card: Subject + Style + Mood + Detail (e.g., "a friendly robot, cartoon style, cheerful, holding a book").
  3. With your facilitator, generate the image using an AI image tool (Magic Media).
  4. Check it: Is it appropriate? Does it match your plan? Iterate once.
You create: Your first AI-generated character/image + a prompt recipe card.
2

Icon Lab & Logo Magic

90 min
Apply → Analyze
Ages 9–16 Shape & Grid Typography SEL: Self-Management

Great icons are simple. Kids learn to build clear icons from basic shapes and design a personal logo, mixing hand-made shapes with AI suggestions.

Learning Goals (Mastery)
  • Build 3 recognizable icons from circles, squares, and lines.
  • Choose a font that matches a mood (playful vs. serious).
  • Combine an icon + name into a personal logo.
Hands-On Lab: "My Personal Brand"
  1. Sketch 3 icon ideas on paper (home, star, rocket, etc.).
  2. Rebuild the best one from shapes in Canva; align it on a grid.
  3. Use Magic Design / AI suggestions to explore logo layouts.
  4. Pick a font + 2 brand colors; assemble your logo.
You create: A 3-icon set + your own personal logo.
3

Make It Move: Animation Studio

90 min
Apply → Create
Ages 9–16 Motion Basics Timing SEL: Responsible Decision-Making

Kids learn how motion guides the eye and adds emotion, then animate their Session 1 & 2 creations into a looping animated sticker or intro.

Learning Goals (Mastery)
  • Explain "entrance, emphasis, exit" and why timing matters.
  • Apply at least 2 animation effects with sensible timing.
  • Export an animated GIF/clip that loops smoothly.
Hands-On Lab: "Bring My Character to Life"
  1. Storyboard 3 frames on paper: start → action → end.
  2. Import your AI character + logo into Canva.
  3. Add entrance/emphasis animations; adjust speed to feel natural.
  4. Export as an animated sticker or 5-second intro clip.
You create: An animated sticker or logo intro clip.
4

Slide Story: Design a Presentation

90 min
Analyze → Create
Ages 9–16 Layout & Hierarchy Storytelling SEL: Relationship Skills

A great slide deck is a story, not a wall of text. Kids assemble their images, icons, and animations into a clean, accessible presentation about themselves or a cause they care about.

Learning Goals (Mastery)
  • Structure a 5-slide story: title, idea, details, example, ending.
  • Apply consistent colors, fonts, and spacing across slides.
  • Add alt text and high-contrast text for accessibility.
Hands-On Lab: "My Story in 5 Slides"
  1. Plan 5 slides on a paper outline (one idea per slide).
  2. Build slides in Canva using your own logo, icons, and AI image.
  3. Use Magic Write to draft a caption, then improve it in your own words.
  4. Run an accessibility check: contrast + alt text + readable size.
You create: A polished 5-slide presentation.

Capstone: Make a Short Video & Showcase

90 min
Create → Evaluate
Ages 9–16 Video & Audio Presenting SEL: Social Awareness

Everything comes together: kids turn their images, animations, and slides into a 30–60 second video, then present their portfolio in a mini "showcase" and give kind, useful feedback to peers.

Learning Goals (Mastery)
  • Sequence scenes and add music/text to tell a clear story.
  • Export a shareable 30–60 second video.
  • Present their portfolio and give one "glow" + one "grow" to a peer.
Capstone Lab: "My Creative Reel"
  1. Storyboard the video: intro (logo) → showcase (images/animation) → outro.
  2. Assemble clips + slides in Canva video; add text and safe, free music.
  3. Export the video and add it to your portfolio folder.
  4. Present in the Showcase; collect feedback using the "glow & grow" cards.
Capstone: A short video + a complete portfolio (image, icons, logo, animation, slides, video).

Safe & Inclusive

A Note for Parents & Facilitators

We take child safety, privacy, and equity seriously — so every family can feel confident enrolling.

Supervised AI use.
All AI tools are used with a facilitator present. We prefer education-tier tools like Canva for Education (free for K–12) with built-in safety, and we respect tool age requirements.
No child data collected.
Activities don't require kids to share personal information, and children under 13 work through a supervised school/foundation account.
No child left behind.
Every lab has a paper / offline / low-cost alternative so kids without a device or internet still fully participate.
Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents usually ask before enrolling their child.

Does my child need any experience?
No experience is needed. The course starts with the basics and each session builds gently on the last using an "I do → we do → you do" approach, so complete beginners and creative kids both thrive.
What device and software are required?
A laptop, Chromebook, or tablet with a browser is ideal, since we use Canva for Education (free for K–12). If a device or internet isn't available, every activity has a paper-and-pencil alternative so no child is excluded.
Is using AI safe for children?
Yes. AI tools are always used with a facilitator present, we choose education-tier tools with built-in safety guardrails, we respect age requirements (under-13s work via a supervised school/foundation account), and no personal data is collected in activities.
What will my child have at the end?
A complete creative portfolio: an original AI image, a set of icons, a personal logo, an animation, a 5-slide presentation, and a short 30–60 second video — all created and presented by your child.
How long is each session?
Each of the 5 sessions runs about 90 minutes and includes a warm-up, a guided demo, a hands-on lab, a show-and-tell, and an at-home challenge.
How do we register?
Just use the "Enroll Your Child" button below or the Register link in the menu. Seats are limited to keep classes small and supportive.
